Artist’s Statement:
This painting is a replica of the work of Pieter Claesz, a Dutch painter known for vanitas still lifes that reflect on mortality and the passage of time. The composition features symbolic objects, including a skull, books, and other instruments, to convey the fleeting nature of knowledge and time.
